Accuracy and accountability
Corrections policy
Readers, businesses and public bodies can report a suspected error. We assess the evidence, correct substantiated inaccuracies and prioritise information that could affect an imminent trip.
What can be reported
A correction request may concern a price, opening time, route, location, entry rule, property facility, business status, attribution, quotation, safety detail, description or another statement of fact. You may also report a broken source link, an image that depicts the wrong place or wording that creates a materially misleading impression.
How to submit a useful report
Email hello@mombasarentals.com with “Correction” in the subject. Include:
- the URL and relevant section;
- the statement you believe is incorrect;
- the proposed correction;
- a reliable source, document or first-hand context;
- any date, residency category, room type or other condition that changes the answer; and
- whether the issue could affect a traveller immediately.
Do not send passwords, full identity documents, payment-card details or confidential traveller records.
How we assess a correction
The editorial team checks the claim against the source most appropriate to it. Government and official authorities are normally strongest for laws, entry requirements and public fees. A property or activity operator is normally strongest for its current facilities and operating policy. Independent accounts can be valuable for experience, but one comment does not automatically establish a universal fact.
A business may ask us to consider its official information, but it cannot require the removal of fair editorial criticism or purchase a correction. Affiliate and advertising relationships do not change the evidence standard.
What happens after review
- Substantiated factual error: we correct the page and related information that relies on the same fact.
- Material change: we may add a short correction or update note when the earlier wording could have significantly affected a reader.
- Minor issue: spelling, formatting, broken links and clarity improvements may be fixed without a separate public note.
- Disputed opinion: we may clarify the criteria or add missing context without replacing a supported editorial judgement with promotional wording.
- Insufficient evidence: we may request more information or leave the article unchanged while continuing to monitor the issue.
Priority and response
We give priority to errors involving current entry rules, safety, closures, transport, money, material accessibility limitations and incorrect identification. We review reports as promptly as practical but do not promise a fixed response time or a particular outcome.
Privacy
Correction emails are used to investigate and document the issue. We do not normally publish the sender’s name or private information without permission or another lawful reason. See the privacy policy.
